Easter School Idea
Would you like to take part in our RAVENSBOURNE EASTER PROJECT - THE SNAKE PIT? (Details of the project are below). This is for Year 10, 11 & 12 students interested in the following areas - Art & Design, Film, Product Design, Fashion, Graphics, Broadcasting, Music & Sound Production.
The Snake Pit will take place over 2 days - the 3rd & 4th April 2012 and will look great on College and UCAS applications. If you would like to take part please see Ms Whittaker for an application form and return it to me by 23rd March 2012 at the latest.
Are you brave enough to enter the Snake Pit and face the Business Cobras?
The challenge - Working in small focus groups you will be asked to create and promote a fantastic new product/service that can be sold to tourists visiting London during Easter/ Springtime. This could be anything from a printed shopping bag, an easter gift, a springtime 'gadget', an app for phones showcasing spring festivals etc. The choice is yours.....
The only criteria is that it MUST promote both London and Spring.
But the challenge doesn't end there. Once you decide on what you want to sell then you have to produce the costings, market research and develop the pitch that will convince the Cobras that your idea/product is the best.
Many enter the Snake Pit, but only one group will win....will it be you?

Journal posts - Example
'Today we had to show Miss our storyboards to see how we were getting on and it turned out to be a very useful conversation. We realised that the shot of the girl coming up the stairs towards the camera would be very difficult to keep steady, so we are going to use a low-angle shot from the side of the stairs looking through instead. Miss also showed us a sequence made by some students last year: (Insert sequence link) which really inspired us as it manages to keep the air of mystery as to the identity of the main character that we're hoping to achieve but with a good variety of interesting shots. This has given us some good ideas to add into our storyboard. Finally, our conversation got us to thinking about the practicalities of what we want to do, for example how to make the book flutter open and land on a certain page. This could be difficult so we are going to go home and experiment with ways of doing it.'
